Relational & Family Systems–Informed Therapy in Scottsdale, AZ

Virtual Services Offered throughout Arizona and California

Therapy That Looks Beyond the Individual

Our experiences and patterns are often shaped by the relationships and family systems we grew up in — even when we’re high-functioning and independent. Relational & Family Systems–Informed Therapy is a collateral support service that complements individual therapy by helping you understand how family dynamics, relational patterns, and early roles influence your sense of self, emotional regulation, and coping strategies.

This is not couples therapy and is not ongoing family therapy. Instead, it’s a time-limited, intentional support designed to enhance insight, alignment, and healing in the context of your individual goals.

Who This Work is For

This service is ideal for clients who:

  • Want to explore how family and relational patterns impact their identity and emotional wellbeing

  • Are seeking greater clarity and insight while actively engaged in individual therapy

  • Struggle with boundary-setting, self-assertion, or patterns learned in early relationships

  • Want to interrupt cycles of behavior that no longer serve their goals

What to Expect

Relational and family systems work is integrated as an adjunctive service alongside your individual therapy:

  • Systems-informed exploration: Understand how family-of-origin and relational dynamics influence coping patterns, emotions, and decisions

  • Collateral support: Brief or intentional involvement of family members or key supports to clarify roles, enhance communication, and deepen insight

  • Boundary and differentiation work: Strengthen your sense of self while maintaining connection in relationships

  • Insight into emotional regulation: Recognize how relational patterns impact stress, anxiety, and emotional responses

This work is always in service of your personal goals, providing tools and insight to help you live more intentionally and authentically, both inside and outside of relationships.

Why This Approach Matters

Even when we feel independent, relational patterns often subtly shape our emotions, decisions, and sense of self. By exploring these dynamics with a family systems lens, you can:

  • Build clarity around recurring patterns in relationships

  • Strengthen emotional regulation within relational contexts

  • Identify behaviors or coping strategies that no longer serve you

  • Make choices that align with your values and authentic self

This approach helps you achieve deeper, sustainable growth in individual therapy by addressing the relational system in a safe and structured way.

About Me – Therapist for Individuals in Scottsdale, AZ

I’m Samantha, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience helping clients understand themselves within the context of their relationships and family systems. While my primary work is with individuals, I’ve found that many of the patterns we carry — from perfectionism and people-pleasing to emotional over-functioning and coping strategies — are shaped by the families and relational systems we grew up in.

Through Relational & Family Systems–Informed Therapy, I provide collateral support that complements individual therapy. This work helps you explore how your relational experiences influence your identity, emotional regulation, and patterns of coping, offering insight and tools to strengthen your sense of self. In some cases, brief or intentional involvement of family members or key supports can enhance clarity, communication, and alignment — always in service of your personal goals.

This approach is ideal for capable, reflective young adults & women who want to understand their relational patterns without engaging in ongoing family or couples therapy. My goal is to help you navigate these dynamics safely and thoughtfully, so your growth in individual therapy is deeper, more sustainable, and fully aligned with who you are becoming.
